Workshop 20 - Guerrilla Action in Urban Space

The urban space in which we live, grows almost uncontrollably. Today, more than 50% of the world's population live in urban environments and mega city's. The public space, which belongs to all of us, is shrinking and controlled by the authorities and economic forces. As designers, we should be the leaders of change or stimulate the media discourse by guerrilla action in the public sphere. We can create a dynamic by, acting, reacting, sometime create a disruption or intervention in the existing situation, and offer renewal. The subtitle of Malcolm Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference, could just as easily be the tag-line for Spontaneous Interventions.
