AI+D Lab: Now it´s getting personal

Workshop Description

As part of the international seminar week, this course explores current developments in the field of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on the trend toward “Personal AI.” Drawing on key technological and societal contexts, the course analyzes why personalized AI systems are becoming increasingly important.
The AI+D Lab provides access to current models, which can also be tested in practice during the course. In addition, the changing role of designers in the context of Personal AI will be discussed, particularly with regard to new areas of responsibility and creative freedom.

On a practical level, we will explore the question: What might Personal AI look like in different application areas? The course invites participants to critically reflect on these developments and actively help shape them.

Mark Jonathan Freyer

Interdisciplinary industrial designer, strategic designer, and illustrator.
He currently works at the HfG’s international office and holds various teaching positions at the university.
The topic of AI was not only a constant focus during his master’s studies, but also the central theme of various courses he taught in Schwäbisch Gmünd and Berlin.

Ron Eros Mandić

Interaction designer and AI enthusiast

As a former interaction design student and current laboratory manager of the AI+D Lab, Ron pursues the goal of visualizing data in an appealing and tangible way, designing in-depth concepts and developing lifelike prototypes on the web.

Ron is now actively working at the intersection of design, development, and applied artificial intelligence. He is keen on exploring the potential in applications that utilize on-device AI and has recently expanded his focus to voice AI and automation.
